Retrace is pre-release software.
These terms are the agreement between you and Sauvrn for using Retrace. They tell you what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you. We've kept them plain where we can and precise where we must. Please read them — using Retrace means you accept them.
This is an agreement between Sauvrn AI Corporation ("Sauvrn", "we", "us", "our"), based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and you — the person or organization that installs or uses Retrace. If you are using Retrace on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these terms, and "you" means both you and that organization.
Retrace is a browser-memory tool: a Chrome extension and a macOS desktop application that capture the pages you view, then let you search them and ask questions about them. Capture, search, and the AI model all run on your own device. How data is handled — and the short, fixed list of what ever crosses the network — is described in our Privacy commitment, which is part of these terms.
Retrace is in active development. It is offered as a pre-release ("alpha") product and is provided "as is". That has real consequences you accept by using it:
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, and legally able to enter into this agreement. You may not use Retrace if the law prohibits you from doing so.
Some features require an account, which you create and sign in to through our authentication provider. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly (support@sauvrn.ai) if you believe your account has been used without your permission. Accounts are for a single person — don't share them.
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Retrace for your own use. This is a license to use the software — it is not a sale, and we reserve every right we don't expressly grant here.
Because of how Retrace is built, your captured pages, your queries, the embeddings used to search them, and your Ask history live on your device — not on our servers (see the Privacy commitment). That is the whole point of the product, and it means:
You agree not to:
For clarity, and consistent with our privacy stance: you may inspect Retrace's own network behavior (for example, by watching your browser's Network tab) to verify what it does — we invite that. Except as needed for that inspection, or as the law otherwise permits, don't decompile or reverse-engineer the software in order to defeat its licensing.
Retrace's "Ask" feature uses an on-device AI model to generate answers from the pages you've captured. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or fabricated — even when it cites sources. Treat answers as informational only, and verify anything important against the original page. Do not rely on Ask for legal, medical, financial, or other consequential decisions. You are responsible for how you use its output.
Retrace is a paid product. Where paid plans and trials are offered:
During the alpha, we may provide access free of charge, and we may change what is free versus paid. Payments, when charged, are processed by our payment provider (Stripe) under their terms; we do not receive or store your full card number.
Retrace interacts with a few third parties to do specific things — for example, retrieving a Google Doc or Sheet you're viewing (from Google), signing you in (our authentication provider), processing payments (Stripe), and delivering the one-time model download (our CDN). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
Retrace — including the software, the AI models we distribute, the "Sauvrn" and "Retrace" names, and our logos — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by law. These terms transfer no ownership to you beyond the license in Section 6. Your captured data is yours, not ours.
If you send us feedback, ideas, or suggestions, we may use them to improve Retrace without any obligation to you and without compensation. You don't have to send feedback, and when you do, don't include anything you consider confidential.
RETRACE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR AVAILABILITY.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT RETRACE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, OR THAT YOUR DATA WILL NOT BE LOST. YOU USE RETRACE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAUVRN WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) RETRACE.
SAUVRN'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO RETRACE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) CAD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
You agree to defend and hold Sauvrn harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising out of your misuse of Retrace, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
You can stop using Retrace and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or end your access — for example, if you breach these terms, or if we discontinue the product — and we'll give you notice where it's practical to do so. When your access ends, the license in Section 6 ends with it. Your local data stays on your device, since we never held it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 19) will survive.
We may update these terms as Retrace evolves. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know. If you keep using Retrace after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in Toronto, Ontario will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that this does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection laws of the place where you live.
